The Island of Tanna celebrates on 1st of April, the year's first yam harvest where the people from the southern part of the island perform the Yanarawia festival.
Pentecost Island has become famous throughout the world for the land diving ritual (Nagol or N’gol) which occurs every Saturday between April and June. The ritual sees local men and boys as young as seven jump from a 20 -30 metre high man-made tower with only vines attached to their legs.
Tamtam Garden Tours and Transfers is organizing a special cultural festival in 2018 on Thursday 5th July and Friday 6th July. The festival is an ancient tradition which you don't want to miss, practised in the island of Malekula and is very much still alive, that calls and celebrates the Spirit of the dead.
The communities of the Maskelynes Islands host an annual canoe race and cultural festival. Typical program includes a feast of kastom dance, canoe-making, kava tasting, shared local meals, and of course the famous outrigger canoe race, finishing with an 'Island Night' celebration.
Hosted by Chief John Star, Father Levi (local Anglican Minister) and the villages of the Lakona Bay region. You will be personally welcomed into the community to experience local kastom.
